We’re several weeks into another year at the School of Discipleship, and the Lord has blessed us this year with 35 students! 35 may not seem like a large number in comparison to traditional programs, but we serve a God who has done great things with far fewer servants. And that’s our goal—to equip young men and women for kingdom work under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, we live in a world where “the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain” (Psalm 2:1), and so training in kingdom work involves learning how to confront that world. We don’t want to equip our young men and women with cute little sayings and then send them to the lions; we want them to think with discernment about God, the world, sin, and salvation. We want to spend our time with these young people teaching them to think deeply, to work hardily, and to worship joyfully. So pray for our students this year, that they will do all their thinking and working for the kingdom with a deep reference for and trust in Jesus Christ, knowing that “blessed are all who take refuge in him” (Psalm 2:12)
